Rockbird media has implemented a two-day work-from-home setup for its female employees during their menstrual periods. This groundbreaking policy took effect on August 29, 2023, prioritizing the well-being of the female workforce by recognizing the significance of their monthly menstrual cycles, regardless of their employment status.

Meanwhile, a significant legislative development is taking place within the Philippine Senate. House Bill Act 7758, also known as the proposed Menstrual Leave Act, authored by Gabriela Party-list Representative Arlene Brosas, aims to establish a progressive mandate. This proposed bill seeks to ensure that women employees in both private and public sectors are entitled to a maximum of two fully paid leave days per month for menstrual-related needs. The legislative process for this crucial bill is currently in motion, signaling the nation’s commitment to gender equality and workplace inclusivity.

Menstrual leave has gained recognition and acceptance in several countries, including Spain, Zambia, Korea, Japan, Taiwan, and Indonesia. Simultaneously, numerous companies have proactively undertaken initiatives to introduce menstrual leave policies, recognizing its importance in assisting women in effectively managing their symptoms while upholding their productivity in the workplace.

In anticipation of this progressive legislation and in tune with the concerns of their female staff, Rockbird media’s Managing Director, Leo Rodrigo Failma, has taken a proactive step. Recognizing the importance of supporting its employees, the company has preemptively approved the policy of a work-from-home setup during menstruation. This considerate action demonstrates Rockbird media’s dedication to fostering a supportive and equitable work environment for all its team members.
